CRM Solutions | What is CRM?
CRM Solutions are software or web-based applications that compiles, integrates, standardizes and provides access to disparate pieces of information within an organization and to customers. By providing information that is organized and timely, it then becomes more meaningful, and allows users to make informed business decisions. Examples of CRM solutions are applications that track customer purchases, organize customer service records, and provide information to customers about their accounts, such as online credit and banking software. Other uses of CRM solutions include tracking inventory, coordinating sales and marketing information, compiling customer feedback, and automating customer service responses.
CRM solutions have a wide variety of functions. These functions can be applied together for overall business management or used independently to target specific needs. Organizations can determine which areas of business would benefit most from the implementation of a CRM solution, whether it's sales and marketing or simple data management, and work with developers to find a solution that fits best.
CRM solutions generally fall into three categories: those used and accessed by employees only, those used and accessed by employees and company partners such as suppliers or brokers, and those used and accessed by employees, partners, and customers. CRM solutions that are designed for use by employees can collect customer data, automatically update inventory information, track sales leads, and manage customer service centers. Solutions that are used by partners integrate multiple companies? information so that interactions are seamless and immediate, making the often burdensome task of data transfer no longer necessary and increasing the efficiency of each interaction. Customer portals allow customers to access information on their own in order to shop, do research, purchase, or manage their own accounts. For many organizations this alleviates much of the need for customer service representatives and frees up employees to focus on business management and development tasks.
